Good luck on eBay |
In all seriousness, I did pre-order my Switch and I for one am very excited to get it. The system looks super fun, the games look amazing, Mario's hat has EYES. It just looks like a dream come true. Don't get me wrong though, while I am 97% positive about the Switch, there is that lingering 3% that does have me nervous a bit. So today I am going to list my Top 5 PROS & CONS things about the Switch.
Lets start positive.
PROS
5) The Click - That sound in the commercials and the trailers. Its just so satisfying to hear it when you look at any trailer for Switch. Seriously, I'm getting that for my texting tone.
5 mins later - Okay it doesn't work well as text tone, but you get my point. Its still satisfying.
4) Stationary/Portability Balance - I like that the Switch seems to be a very good balance between a home console meant to be played at home and something you can take with you. It really is like a tablet. You can use it at home and keep it stationary, but you aren't stuck to keeping it at home.
3) Joy-Cons - These joystick controllers, yes that's what the name means, look really cool. I like the versatility of them, you can use them like normal controllers or each one can be used as separate controller, I think its really creative and cool. Plus...
Look at the cute puppy. |
2) Third Party Support - The Switch seems to have a good amount of 3rd parties on board. Unlike the Wii U, which is really underrated IMO, the Switch is more easy develop for from what I've heard, and Nintendo has really been listening to 3rd Parties more. Even if you're just buying the Switch for ONLY Nintendo games, its good to know that there won't be as many big gaps in game releases.
1) THE GAMES!! - Zelda: BOTW, Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, etc. The games that are coming to Switch look amazing. Plus those third parties I mentioned a number ago. The Switch, in my humble opinion, is going to have some of Nintendo's best games yet. The three games I mentioned are enough for me to say yes.
Okay, lets start the negative train.
CONS
5) SnipperClips Release Date - At the time of this post, I don't know whether the game is a launch title or not. This upsets me because I really want it. It makes sense that its launch day or least launches in the month of March, but I would really like an official date here Nintendo.
4) Online Paid Service - To be honest I don't hate this idea. I do understand why they did it, and I have heard people say that Nintendo should start this thing. I guess I am a little spoiled that it was free for so long, but if it helps to pay, fine I will. Still, not exactly up for paying for online, but I've heard worse news from a game company.
3) Lack of Launch Titles - Look, we all know Zelda BOTW is going to be GOTY 2017, and the titles available launch day are a pretty good selection, but it is lacking. Besides Zelda, we have 1-2 Switch (Wii Sports Equivalent), Super Bomberman R (Not Bad), Just Dance (Port), and Skylanders (Port). There are a few others that were announced and we do know that there are way more games down the line, but I still think they should've just put Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for Launch.
2) The Price of the Switch Pro Controller - The Switch is $299.99 in the US, perfectly fair to me. However, those prices for the controllers are a bit much. The Joy-Cons together are about $80 and the Pro Controller is $70. I think that is a little too steep at least for the Pro Controller. The Joy-Cons at least come together in a pack and you have the option to buy them separately. I do want a Pro Controller, but after the buying the Switch itself and games for it...
...yeah, I can wait.
1) 1-2 Switch is NOT a Pack-In - 1-2 Switch looks like a lot of fun. The only reason I chose Bomberman over this is because I never played a bomberman game, an official at least, and I did want a cool 3rd Party game, But Why isn't 1-2 Switch a pack-in? This is a perfect pack in game to include. I wouldn't even mind the fact it wasn't a pack in if it was like $20, but NOPE. "That'll be $50 please." I don't think its worth a full $50. If it was cheaper or a pack in like it should be, this would've been a Top 4 Cons.
However, The cons are pretty small to me anyway as the pros REALLY outweigh them. What about you guys. What are you excited for/dreading about the switch. Let me know in the comments and keep checking in for more. Check U L8TR...
...I might need a new outro.
