It might only be near the start of March, but that doesn't mean anything. E3 news is starting to flourish up in small doses. I say small doses, but in reality the news that came about the past few weeks is pretty big. I'm going to focus on three specific announcements. The reasons are: 1) There really are just 3 important topics to discuss and 2) There is a something interesting to talk about for each one. So lets get right into it.
The first piece of news is a bit brief. Three companies announced their E3 plans. Microsoft, Bethesda, and... one company that I'm going to save till the end.
Microsoft's conference is on Sunday June 11th at 2pm PT/4pm CT/5pm ET. Something a bit different because usually they always have it the Monday before the actual E3 event. Not a problem, just something interesting
Bethesda's 3rd E3 conference will also take place on Sunday June 11th at 7pm PT/9pm CT/10pm ET. Nothing super special, just good to know.
Secondly, For the first time in the history of the event, E3 is open to the public this year. This is a very wise step for E3 in general. Not only is it a chance for a broader attendance this year, but it gives gamers a chance to try out these new games for themselves and let them experience the wonder that is E3. Sounds awesome... but there are some "downsides". I use quotes only because while the idea of going to E3 is really fun, and while I personally would love to go one day, there are some important things to know about this.
1) This applies to the event, NOT THE PRESS CONFERENCES. So if you thought this was your chance to see Aisha Tyler in person at the Ubisoft Event, c'mon we all know she's going to host again (No issues on my end), You are a bit out of luck. If you don't care about this and still wanna go, fine.
2) LINES. I have seen images, I've heard the stories and I do believe that the lines in E3 are LONG. E3 has thousands of visitors every year. Last year had over 50,000 people. 50,300 to be exact. That number is just the media/journalists. Okay I am exaggerating a bit when I its JUST media & journalists, but my point still stands. You are going to miss out on some games if the lines/crowds get too hectic. If you don't mind waiting in long lines, okay. More power to you.
3) PRICE. E3 is EXPENSIVE! Not including travel fare, hotels, and food. All of which will set you back a couple of kidneys. Tickets for all 3 days of the event cost $250, that is just under the $300 Nintendo Switch. It is a pretty hefty price point. Not impossible by any means, but you will need to plan on how you spend and your travel arrangements. But if you're still not discouraged by any of what I had to say, Then I do hope you enjoy E3.
There is one more piece of news...
BUT, I'm going to put that in a different post because this one is pretty long as it is.
However, I will ask this. What are you most excited for E3 this year. Talk in the comments below and I will see you next posting.
