The TOP 5 WORST Nintendo Games of 2017
5) EA's Attitude (Fifa 18) - Originally, I wasn't going to put this game on the list as I did hear that despite the lack of features on the Switch version people still liked the game. However, while the game itself isn't on the list, the response of EA made me look at this game differently and I decided to mention it on this list. EA's Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen said that it was "too early" to judge the success of Fifa 18 on Switch and said that EA was going to wait to see if they want to make more games for the system. In short, they made a game that didn't have all of the features compared to the other versions and now because people might not have liked it they don't want to make games for Switch anymore. (Not including Fe, which looks beautiful by the way.) I understand you want to find your niche with the system, but this to me seems like they just wan't duck out after one game didn't do as well as they wanted, and after the fact that they made a game that didn't include everything the other console versions had. Now admittedly the game reviewed pretty well despite the lack of features and they have supported the game pretty well on Switch with updates, which is why the game itself isn't on the list. So, maybe they do need to seriously take a step back and see what they need to fix and maybe this isn't a bad thing. However, with all of the other problems with EA this year (lootboxes), I think of this as one of their more nonsensical decisions. Although ALL will be forgiven if you port Garden Warfare to Switch.
4) Flip Wars - Alright, lets go with an actual bad game. Honestly, I feel a bit bad putting this game on the list, but I thought this game looked boring from the minute I saw the actual game-play. I'll give it credit, I do like that Nintendo hasn't gotten rid of Miis and I do like that they are featured in their own games, This is NOT the game I wanted them featured. This game is like a slow crossover of Splatoon and Bomberman. While the concept and game aren't horrible, the characters walk like they're running through molasses. If you have a group of friends or if you can get a good online connection its fine, but this is not the play by yourself game however. The game isn't horrible, but if you want a good budget Switch Title, stick to SnipperClips.
3) WWE 2K18 - 2K Games did a good job porting NBA 2K18 on Switch so I was happy to hear that they were going to port WWE. Then I saw actual game-play of the Switch Version. Unfortunately this is an example of trying to rush a game that still needs some major tweaking. Graphical downgrades are understandable on Switch, but huge frame-rate dips and buggy controls help bog it down more. The saving grace is that this is only a Nintendo Switch problem, but those problems were enough for me to mention it and put the game on this list. If they do get ironed out with an update than good, but at this moment its on the list. Can't win em' all, but at least 2K did something right for Switch. Just buy this game on another console.
2) Troll & I - WWE was just bad on Switch, this game was bad everywhere. I love games that are asymmetric and give different viewpoints and game-play styles depending on what you play. So I was intrigued by this game. However, that intrigue quickly turned into... something non-intriguing. The game is a bit clunky with its asymetric style not to mention the game doesn't run well technically. In addition, the game looks bad. Some environments are okay looking, but the titular troll looks awful. It looks like a mutant teletubby with dreadlocks, mixed with the worst first draft Jim Henson puppet. I appreciate that the developers tried to make a high scale indie title, unfortunately it didn't work out so well for them. This game about a troll ended up being one. Although, its nowhere near as bad as #1.
Honorable Mentions
Super Bomberman R - This game isn't bad at all, its just not worth $50 bucks.
1-2 Switch - This game isn't bad at all, its just not worth $50 bucks... wait... Also, I understand some games have a multiplayer focus, but don't pretend single-player doesn't exist.
Mario Party: The Top 100 - Making a Mario Party with a bigger focus on mini-games is a fine idea. Making a Mario Party where mini-games are the only focus, not so much. Also, the mini-game count is weird.
This is what I mean:
Mario Party 5: 17 Mini-games
Mario Party 8: 3 Mini-games
Mario Party 9: 10 Mini-games
Why this odd choice of numbering? WHY NOT JUST 10 GAMES PER SERIES?! WHAT IS WRONG WITH BASIC MATH?!?!
(...micro rant over...)

1) Vroom! In the Night Sky - For some strange reason in 2017 someone looked at Superman 64 and thought it needed a revival, with Magical Girls and motorcycles of all things. Everything bad you can say about Superman 64 you can say about this game. The environments are big, empty, look downright terrible, and have an even worse draw distance. The game-play isn't as bad as Superman, but you can clearly tell where the inspiration of this game came from. I don't even think there's a goal for this game, do you just ride around on a motorcycle and go through rings in the air? I admit the concept of anime magical girls and motorcycles is actually pretty funny, but this was not the way to do this. If you really want to experience this game, whether to laugh at it or just see how bad it is for yourself, go right ahead. While not the worst of 2017 because clearly there was way worse than this, to me this was the worst Nintendo Game of 2017.
So yeah, These are just my opinions, but now I want to know your opinions. What was the worst game, Nintendo or otherwise, that you experienced this year? What are you NOT looking forward to in 2018? Leave a comment down below and start a conversation.
