Today two interesting announcements took place. One was for the reveal of the new Mortal Kombat 11, coming to all consoles and PC April 23, 2019, showing the first gameplay footage and some of the new features and characters.
The second was the announcement of a new fighting game based on the hit TV Series called Power Rangers: Battle For the Grid, also coming to all consoles and PC in April 2019.
So I've come to give my thoughts, opinions and what I want from each of these games. So lets dive in.
Mortal Kombat 11
Mortal Kombat 11 looks really good, and by that I mean OMG THE BLOOD!!! This game is looking better every time I see the gameplay. I like each of the character designs and the cool customization options you have to choose from. This also applies to the custom character variants. I always like the idea of character creators in fighting games so this looks really cool that you can take your favorite character and customize to your liking. I just hope it isn't too complicated in the end product so everyone, or semi-decent noobs like me, can get into it not just the die-hard kombat fans.
The sole reason Blood Bending is illegal. Also might be my future main. |
If I can go on a blood tangent once again allow me to exclaim, OMG THE BLOOD!!! Seriously this game is gory. These fatalities are no joke, and they are just straight up brutal. I look at some of these fight moves and still wonder, HOW THE HECK ARE YOU STILL STANDING!?! We even have a character who uses blood to fight people, that is perfectly insane and I love it.
Speaking of, the character selection so far is looking real good. Ronda Rousey as Sonya Blade is just straight-up cool. I hope we get some really good reveals later and I really like how diverse the fighting styles of each character is so far. All I ask for some really unique fighters/unique additions to current fighters. Also, if I really had to pick a very special guest character, I guess PennyWise the clown would be really good or even the Doom Slayer. However, if I was gonna go really crazy...
...please...

Battle For The Grid
Like I said, this game is based on the long running TV series, said series I am a HUGE fan of. Seriously, I still watch Power Rangers to this very day and, for better or worse, it still hasn't lost its charm.
Yeah, I'm a big fan. Plus an even bigger dork.
The game itself is being developed by nWay, they are known for developing another Power Rangers fighting game for mobile devices known as Power Rangers: Legacy Wars, which if you've seen the two games are very similar to each other visually. The big difference between that game and BTFG was that Legacy Wars wasn't a normal fighting game like Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter, although ironically that game did get Street Fighter Content. It was a "card battler", instead of using fighting moves with a set of well-timed combination of button presses or taps on a screen, you used different moves via "cards" and once you used one you have to wait a few seconds before you could use it again
.
I played Legacy Wars for a bit and for a mobile I think its pretty good, although I do wish it was more akin to a normal fighting game. This new game however is WAY more akin to a normal fighting game and I already like it more for it. All I really ask for in this game is that they do a good job choosing the roster for this game. Finding the right balance of different teams of Rangers and memorable villains to play as. Don't just have "very first two teams/villains" and "very recent teams/villains", Power Rangers has been around for 25 years, just remember to have variety.
--------------------------------
So those are my thoughts on those two announcements, but now its your turn. Are you interested in either of these games? What characters do you want to see from MK11? From Battle for the Grid? Do you think I'm a dork? (Think wisely before you answer that. Some of those morphers I got actually work. To a degree...) Stay Tuned, because there is always more where this came from. See you guys later.
