Nintendo 3DS
Hey! PIKMIN (July 28) -The first Pikmin game to be on a handheld system, the first to be a platforming side-scroller, and the third of Nintendo's games to have a 30-50 sec. teaser and get a petition started against. YAY! All joking aside, I like the look of this game more now that I've seen the new trailer compared to the first one they showed last year. I've never been a humongous fan of Pikmin, but I'm definitely intrigued by this game. Plus, that amiibo looks sweet. A good 3DS adventure game by the looks of it.
Ever Oasis (June 23) - A release date has given to this title. This Monster Hunter-style game has you roaming the desert in search of ways to help your own oasis flourish. That's about it. I'm not overly excited for this game, but it does look cool and I love that art style. Looks good for those who want a RPG-adventure.
Yo-Kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters (Fall 2017) - Did you play Yo-Kai Watch? Do you watch the series? Did you play the Sequels? Well, here's Yo-Kai Watch 2.5. This feels like a mesh of the Yo-Kai Watch 2 games put together with a few extra's, at least in my mind. Although, I did like the first game and I watch the series sometimes. If your like me and missed out on the sequel before, here's another chance with the "definitive" sequel.
JRPGs - Nintendo must really like JRPGs because they announced quite a few of them. I'm just going to give a quick rundown of them along with their release dates.
- Monster Hunter Stories (Fall 2017) - Looks really fun, I have played Monster Hunter with my cousins and I'm really excited to try this Spin-Off.
- Culdcept Revolt (August 29) - I never heard of this series, and I really don't care about it. If your excited, great for you and I hope you have fun.
- Miitopia (2017) - I like the concept, but I'm not gonna pick it up. I like the Mii games like Wii Sports or Wii Play, they look more fun to me. Not my cup of tea, but again if you are excited for this, great.
- Fire Emblem Echoes (May 19) - I'm not that interested in Fire Emblem. The strategy aspect of the game was just a turn off to me. I do like the characters in Smash Bros. and I am excited for Fire Emblem Warriors, because that's the only Fire Emblem I'm gonna play, but this game is a skip for me.
- RPG Maker FES (June 27) - This looks really fun. Its got that Mario Maker charm to it. Plus, I like the idea of creating my own RPGs with fun dungeons with interesting puzzles. I might have pick this up. Plus it comes out around my birthday, YAY.
Kirby 25th Anniversary - Nintendo announced a few games for Kirby's 25th Birthday and all of them are coming out for... Nintendo 3DS? Not one for Switch? That is a bit unfortunate, but the games they showed off still look cool. Also here's a fun game, name one bad Kirby game.
- Team Kirby Clash Deluxe (Available Now) - A free-to-start game based off the multiplayer mode from Planet Robobot. (I love that name) Looks fun, but I already have Planet Robobot, so I think I'm good.
- Kirby's Blowout Blast (Summer 2017) - Now this game on the other hand looks fun. I liked this game mode from Planet Robobot, and this is a really good idea on how to expand it. This I plan to pick up when it comes out.
- New Kirby for Nintendo 3DS (Holiday 2017) - This is clearly going to be at E3. It is a bit disappointing it isn't coming to Nintendo Switch, and how nothing Kirby related has been announced for Switch, but you never know what can happen. I'm still excited nonetheless.
amiibo
New Zelda amiibo themed to Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword release June 23.
The final Smash Bros. characters Corrin, Cloud, and Bayonetta will release on July 21 along with different variants based on there other costumes. ARE YOU HAPPY NOW?!
Nintendo Switch
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (April 28) - Just a reminder. Review Coming Soon.
Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers (May 26) - This was just a quick refresher on the game's features. However, it is here that they showed off that new "Hadouken First Person Mode". If you like that, good for you. I do like fighting games, so I actually might pick this up. Although I'm still waiting for Pocket Rumble.
MineCraft: Nintendo Switch Edition (May 11) - This was a nice surprise. I'm glad that this game is releasing as soon it is. Plus, it comes with the Mario Mashup pack built in. They did specifically say an e-Shop release but I don't mind that, honestly I was going to download it anyway. Overall, I'm very happy with this.
NEO-GEO Games - More are releasing. That's all I got for this section. Good to have while we wait for Virtual Console, but most of those games didn't really peak my interest. However, I do recommend Waku Waku 7. That is game is hilarious and fun.
Sonic The Hedgehog - Sonic fans must've really been happy with these announcements.
- Sonic Forces (Holiday 2017) - Besides the footage we saw from the SXSW panel, we finally got a look at Classic Sonic gameplay and a tease for a new character. I liked Sonic Generations, so this game further intrigues me.
- Sonic Mania (Summer 2017) - We got some new footage of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles running around through some new and classic levels. That's pretty much it, but what they showed looked fun. I can't wait for this game, and I was super happy when it was confirmed for Switch. Now I just need a release date.
Project Mekuru: Working Title (Summer 2017) - Miis aren't dead, YAY. This game has you ground pounding tiles in order to make them your color. This game looks okay, but this is clearly an e-Shop game for $20. That's not a bad thing at all, just look at SnipperClips.
Fate/Extella (July 25) - A Dynasty Warrior Style game based off the anime of the same name. It looks fun, but I don't know anything about the anime so I'm left neutral about the whole thing. I'll have to think more on whether I want this or not, because the gameplay looked fun.
Disgaea 5 Complete (May 23) - A JRPG. To be honest, I really don't care about this game. This section just went over my head completely. The art style looks absolutely beautiful and colorful, but this isn't my type of game. If you like this, more power to you. Me on the other hand, I'm skipping this.
Puyo Puyo Tetris (April 25)/ Demo Out Now - This game has me excited. I like the idea of two similar yet very different puzzle games coming together. I played the demo, I like the character designs and personalities, and overall I love the concept. This is definitely a buy for me.
(I get excited for a puzzle game, not a JRPG in an apparently loved franchise. True gamer cred here folks.)
Monopoly (Fall 2017) - Honestly a fun surprise. A classic game released on Switch that makes use of not only its mobile aspects, but the HD Rumble as well. Plus, who doesn't like Monopoly? Looks cool to me.
Rayman Legends Definitive Edition (2017) - I loved this game on Wii U and I was so happy that they decided to port the game to Switch. I am still excited, but I am a bit disappointed about no release date though. Oh well, just have to keep my Wii U a bit longer. Not a problem really.
THQ NORDIC - The Shoot em' up Sine Mora EX and the RPG Battle Chasers Nightwar hit the e-Shop this Summer and they look pretty cool. That's all I have to say on those games.
PAYDAY 2 (2017) - O-O This game honestly SHOCKED me. I did not expect this at all. The first person shooter game where you rob banks with your friends and clearly was an M-Rated game is coming to Nintendo Switch. I honestly don't even really want this game, I'm just shocked that someone even thought to put this on Switch. So, yeah... Payday 2 is coming to Switch. A great effort by Nintendo and third party companies to get games on the system. I'm probably not going to get this because I suck at First Person Shooters, but still a good announcement.
Namco Museum (Summer 2017) - A big collection of classic Namco games like Pac-Man, Galaga, & Dig Dug. Can't go wrong with this in my opinion. If you need something to hold you over until the Switch gets an official Virtual Console, this'll do.
Switch Accessories - To end things off here. Nintendo announced a few new accessories coming for Nintendo Switch.
- Neon Yellow Joy-Cons (June 16) - New Colors =D
- Battery Extenders (June 16) - A little odd seeing that the Joy-Cons actually have a very long battery life. I think this is just in case people want to play ARMS for a long time.
- Standalone Dock (May 19) - Good if you have multiple TV's in your house.
So those were all of the announcements from the Nintendo Direct. Let me know how you felt about these games. Leave your thoughts in the comments below. I'll catch you guys later.
